Peterson reclaims Gorge Cup title

Bruce Peterson has yet another Gorge Cup for the trophy case.

Peterson captured the 2008 Gorge Cup title on Saturday with strong showing in the U.S. National Windsurfing Racing Tour events at the Hood River event site, sending him to a dominating first place overall finish.

Peterson finished in first place with 3.5 points, Andreas Macke finished second with 16.0 points and Derek Nielson finished third with 20.0 points.

In the Formula Experience North American championships Jay Watermeyer, Marion Lepart, Ben Grodner and Michael Ply captured divisional titles flying across the waters of the Columbia. Watermeyer won the Junior 8.5 Boys division, Lepart won the 7.5 Junior Girls Division, Grodner won the Junior 7.5 Boys division and Michael Ply won the Masters 11.0 Division.

In the U.S. Windsurfing National Racing tour, many racers won both the Tour event and the Slalom event. Stefan Lidington won the men’s division in both, Shelley Gimbal took both women’s divisions, Bruce Peterson won the Masters division, Jac leRoux won the Grand Masters Division. Jan Hoogland won the Sr. Grand Masters Division of the Tour while Joe Wyatt won the category in the Slalom.

Sam Bauer won the Sport Division in both events. In the Slalom Jay Watermeyer won the junior boys division and Alyson Fromm won the junior girls division.
