Last day for HRV hall of fame nominees

The Hood River Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for this year’s class. Nomination forms with nominating criteria can be found at the school office or online at www.hrvhs.com. Forms are due May 28. Bob Sullivan Fitness Day May 31

There will be a fitness day Fun Run/Walk at Hood River Valley High School at 10 a.m on May 31. There will be 3K, 5K and 10K  run/walk options on the HRV track and trails.

Pre-registration required to receive a T-shirt. Fee is $5 adult; $3 ages 13-18; free for ages 12 and under. Register by e-mailing Barb Hosford at bhosford@hoodriver.k12.or.us or calling (541) 386-4500, ext. 4620. Proceeds go to the Bob Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Free sports physicals June 7

Columbia Gorge Family Medicine and Gorge Spine and Sports medicine are coordinating a free sports clinic for all students in the mid-Columbia area. This year’s clinic will be held in the Hood River Middle School cafeteria on June 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. Students entering sixth through eighth grade will be 9-10 a.m., ninth through 10th grade from 10-11 a.m. and students entering 11th through 12th grade will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Parent signature is required for students under age 15. For more information, contact Columbia Gorge Family Medicine at 386-5070.

Smith wins ICWG Days Play, Rice wins spring handicap tourney

Candace Smith won the most recent Indian Creek Women’s Golf Association Days Play. Days Play was for putts. Smith finished the day with 29. Trish Dixon finished second with 30 and Jill Morgan and Darlene Roberts finished with 32 each. At the group’s spring handicap tournament, Clara Rice emerged as the champion with a 67. Kathi Guthrie and Cynthia Brocklesby tied for second with a 72 and Janet Benson finished fourth with a 73.  Jo Smith and Carol Knowles tied for fifth with a 75. Long Drive and Kp went to Sandra Jeffries. Fewest putts went to Candace Smith with 30. Days Play continues on Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. with the draw at 8:15. Casual play on Mondays at 9 a.m.

'Fantastic Gymnastics' clinic June 6

Gorge Gymnastics will host a clinic for boys and girls age 6 through 10, Friday, June 6, at Hood River Sports Club. The clinic goes from  5-8 p.m, and includes time on floor, bars, beam and vault events, a show from the Gorge Gymnastics competitive girls team, pictures with the Gorge Gymnastics team, and a T-shirt for every participant. Cost for the clinic is  $40. Each participant should bring a sack lunch with healthy snack for break time and water or Gatorade-type drink.  Plastic only.
