Montel Adams Black
Montel Adams Black, born Nov. 24, 1929,
died March 6, 2009, in Hood River, Ore., after a heroic battle
with Alzheimer’s.
Born to R.C. and Ordell Adams of
Dresden, Tenn., Montel grew up in Weakley County before moving
to Henderson, Tenn., where she attended Freed Hardeman College.
After college, Montel married Edwin Black of Paradise, Calif.
The two eventually moved and settled in Sacramento, Calif.,
where they spent the majority of their 59 years of marriage.
Montel is survived by her husband,
Edwin; her four children: Philip, Connie, Cynthia, and Tina; her
eight grandchildren: Valerie, Julian, Courtney, Caleb, Andrew,
Alexander, Daniel and Jacob; her two great-grandchildren,
Marissa and Wilson; as well as her three brothers, Woody Adams,
Marlin Adams and Hugh Adams.
A funeral service will be held Saturday,
March 14, at the Hood River Church of Christ in Hood River, Ore.
A memorial service will also be held in Sacramento, Calif., in
June. In lieu of flowers, Edwin has asked for donations to be
made to one of the following institutions:
