Autumn Schweitz
Three-year-old Autumn Rocsan Schweitz
passed away in Portland, Ore., on Jan. 26, 2009. She was born
Sept. 22, 2005, in Bend, Ore., to Rebecah Jean Olmstead and
Wesley Lynn Schweitz.
Autumn was a conduit of joy. She loved
to sing and dance and make snow angels. Her heart was full of
creativity and she loved to paint.
She brought many smiles when she would
say “I want to do my BaBalalala-et!”
Autumn like to be held and have her ears
rubbed. She was a very determined little girl who gave so much
and was extremely loved.
Autumn is survived by her mother,
Rebecah Olmstead, of Hood River, Ore.; father, Wesley Schweitz,
of Mitchell, Ore.; sisters Alisha Carson, of Redmond, Ore., and
Cassandra Schweitz, of Parkdale, Ore.; brother, Clout Tolstoy,
of Portland, Ore.; grandparents Don and Dee Olmstead, of
Parkdale; great-grandmother, Phyllis Lenaburg, of Portland; and
numerous other family members and friends.
A celebration of her life was held on
Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at Hood River Alliance Church with
interment at Parkdale Cemetery. Gardner Funeral Home handled
arrangements.
Curtis Crown
Curtis Paul “Curt” Crown, a Hood River,
Ore., resident, passed away at the Oregon Veterans Home in The
Dalles on Feb. 5, 2009.
Services with military honors will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Anderson’s Tribute Center.
A reception will follow.
Curt moved to Hood River at the age of
14 and worked to help support his family. At 18, Curt joined the
army and following his service returned home to Hood River. He
worked various jobs until finding a longtime career of 43 years
in the fruit-growing industry.
Curt was a true member of his community.
He was a volunteer fireman and a member of the Elks and the
American Legion.
At 19, Curt met his love, Frances Cody,
and married in 1948. They had two beautiful boys, Howard and
Michael.
After retiring in 1989 Curt took up the
game of golf. He spent many hours and days on the golf course
with his family and friends. When he wasn’t here in Hood River
playing golf, he and Frances would travel to Reno and Arizona to
spend time with their boys and grandchildren.
Curt’s greatest love in life was his
family. He always worked fixing up their homes and took great
pride in his grandchildren and teaching them to bike ride,
sledding and all the fun good things in life.
Curt had a great sense of humor and
enjoyed teasing every chance he had. All his family and
especially his grandchildren tremendously loved Grandpa Curt.
In addition to his friends Curt is
survived by his wife, Frances Crown; children, Howard and
Michael; sister, Lois Clarke; brother, Loyd Crown; and many
special grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and brothers: Seraphine, Bert, John, Bobby and Andy.

Daniel Jolly
Eighty-two-year-old Daniel Nathan Jolly
passed away in White Salmon, Wash., on Feb. 4, 2009. He was born
in Ariel, Wash., on Aug. 3, 1926, to Johanna (Jenkins) and David
Asher Jolly.
Daniel graduated from Woodland High
School when he was 16 years old. He joined the army, working as
a cook on a ship, during World War II. After his military
service, Daniel went to work as a timber cruiser. Throughout his
life, he worked in all aspects of the timber industry.
In 1951, he was baptized as a Jehovah’s
Witness and later helped start and build many Kingdom Halls.
Daniel was married for 51 years to Fern
Jolly, until her passing in 2003. In 2004 Daniel married LeLane
Benjamin. He will be remembered as a wonderful, honest person.
Survivors include his wife, LeLane
Jolly, of Dallesport, Wash.; children, Kristine Ann Kelly, of
Vancouver, Wash., Daniel Jolly, of Eugene, Ore., Patricia Stamp,
of Illwaco, Wash., Thomas Jolly, of Oregon City, Ore., Brian
Jolly, of Centerville, Wash., Sheryl Thorsen, of Vancouver,
Richard Jolly, of Vancouver, Kenneth Jolly, of Portland, and
Melissa Norried, of Corning, Calif.
He is also survived by his stepchildren,
Vivian Ellson, of White Salmon, Wayne Westby, of McMinnville,
Ore., and Stan “Buck” Westby, of Yuma, Ariz.; siblings Becky, of
Ariel, David, of Whidbey Island, Steve, of Ariel, Phillip, Jim,
of Japan, Joe, of Alaska, Pete, of Florida, Paul, of Portland,
and Michael, of Arizona; and 34 grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by brothers Tim and John.
A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, Feb. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Kingdom Hall,
3617 R Street, Vancouver, WA 98663. Gardner Funeral Home handled
cremation arrangements.
Jay Livingston
Leo Jayson “Jay” Livingston, 78, died
Feb. 8, 2009, at his Parkdale, Ore., residence.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 13,
at 1 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center.
Jay was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Lindsay,
Calif., to William and Indiana “Indie” (Gray) Livingston. He was
the last survivor of three sisters and three brothers.
Jay was raised and educated in Lindsay.
He lived in the San Francisco Bay area for six years and then
returned to Lindsay. On Oct. 28, 1972, he and Georgie Delay were
married in Lindsay.
Jay worked as an industrial mechanic for
General Cable Corporation in Lindsay, Lindsay Olive Growers and
Lindsay Irrigation District. He came to Parkdale, Ore., in 1986.
He worked at Terry Shell Station in Hood River, Ore., Luhr
Jensen and for Diamond Fruit Growers in Parkdale, Hood River and
Odell.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
three sisters, three brothers, daughters Donna Joan Livingston
and Brenda Joyce Rains and son, Howard Neal Livingston.
Jay is survived by his wife, Georgie, of
Parkdale; daughter, Nora Marie Richardson, of Rosamond, Calif.;
stepdaughter, Laurie Lynn Kunert, of Amarillo, Texas;
grandchildren John Steven Rains, Gregory Randal Rains, Michelle
Lynn Casterline, Mindy Shawn Kunert, Amanda Marie Chambers,
Nicholas Andrew Richardson, Wayne Tyler, Krystal Lynn Richardson
and Michael Richardson; great-grandchildren Emily Kayleen
Casterline, Rhys Wynn Casterline, Chloe Anne Marie Casterline,
Natalie Marie Kunert Bluefield and Matthew Bluefield Jr.
Private interment will be at Upper
Valley Cemetery in Parkdale, Ore.
