Manchester, 79, passed away Aug. 26, 2008, in Mead, Wash. He was
born Oct. 12, 1928, in North Loup, Neb., to Ira and Nell
Manchester.
Russell was a veteran of the Korean War and
continued his distinguished government service in the U.S.
Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service,
serving as Officer in Charge.
Russell was preceded in death by his
cherished wife, Opal (Kniesteadt) Manchester. He is survived by
his children: Sharon (William) Myers, of Waterford, Mich.,
Shelly (Dr. Richard) Fici, of Shelby Township, Mich., Karen
Franks, of Mead, Wash., and Russell E. Manchester, of Spokane,
Wash.; grandchildren: Joshua, Adam (Crystal) Franks, Theresa
(Shawn) Worley, Mike Manchester, and Ricky, David, and Michael
Fici; step-granddaughter Deborah Myers; and great-granddaughters
Jaden and Addison Franks, and Michela Spena.
Russ made a huge impact on everyone he met
and will be missed by all he touched in life. A celebration of
Russell’s life was held Sunday, Aug. 31, at St. Andrews
Episcopal Church, 2404 N. Howard, Spokane, Wash. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made
to Hospice of Spokane, 121 S. Arthur, Spokane, WA 99202.
Private inurnment in The Dalles, Ore., will
take place at a later date.
