Becky Jean Petricko, a longtime
Hood River,
Ore.,
resident, died Aug. 21, 2008, at her
residence. She was 62 years of age.
Services will be held
on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. at the
Odell
United
Methodist
Church.
Becky was born
Aug. 4, 1946,
in Oregon City,
Ore., to
Henry and Verle (Day) Redhead. She was raised and educated in
Oregon
City and
graduated from
Lake Oswego
High School
in 1964. She moved to
Hood
River in
1965. On
Nov. 12, 1966,
she and Jerry Petricko were married in
Hood
River.
Becky worked as program director at KIHR for four years and then
worked for two years for the Cascade Shopper where she was
responsible for advertising layout. She then worked as a clerk
for Hood River Supply for eight years and was also responsible
for the co-op's newsletter.
Becky traveled to several areas giving talks to co-ops on
formulating newsletters. She worked as a clerk for Diamond Fruit
Company at the Odell Packing Plant for four years and then spent
the next eight years at her favorite job, administrative
assistant for mountain operations at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Becky's 30 years of volunteer work included
youth group director at
Odell
United
Methodist
Church,
counselor and camp director at
Camp
Yallani
and 4-H Leader for the "Gilhouley Gauchos.” An accomplished
equestrienne, she enjoyed riding and horse camps.
She was an avid reader, wrote poetry, studied the Dakota Sioux,
enjoyed hiking, canoeing, charcoal painting, arts and crafts and
spending time with her grandson. Christmas was her beloved
holiday. Becky spent months in preparation for Christmas.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry
Perticko; her mother, Verle Redhead, of
Hood
River;
daughter, Missy Halter, and son-in-law, Todd, of
Kennewick,
Wash., and their
son, Christopher; brothers-in-law Andy Petricko, of
Salem, Ore.,
and Skip Petricko, of Tygh Valley, Ore.; and sister-in-law, Rose
Frazer, of Gresham, Ore.
Becky was preceded in death by her father and brother and best
friend, David Redhead.
