Violet Lucinda Oatman, 23, of Odell, Ore., passed from this earth Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008. She was born July 8, 1985, to Emily and Johnie Oatman. She enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, family and life!

A proud mom to Brycen James Lauritsen, 2½, she did everything she could to make his life joyous.

Violet was recently employed as a maintenance worker for Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission. Her bubbly presence, big smile and laughter will be missed by all who know her.

She is survived by her parents, Johnie and Emily Oatman; boyfriend and best friend, Lance Lauritsen; son, Brycen Lauritsen; brothers Art, John Jr., and Bobby; sisters Joni and Lydia; grandfather, Marcus Oatman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Violet was laid to rest on the Nez Perce Reservation in Kamiah, Idaho.

A memorial service will be held at the Cascade Locks Community Center at Marine Park Saturday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m., with a potluck to follow.
