Memorial Day at Maryhill

Maryhill Winery celebrates the Memorial Day weekend May 24-26 from 10-6 p.m. with wine specials, free wine tasting, new releases, a barbecue and live music each day. Catch these regional bands on the arbor from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, Carlyle. Guitarist Nick Drake, Richard Thompson and singer Sunny Andersen with Galynne Davis on percussion form a sound saturated in ripe strings and appealingly dreamy takes on classic blues riffs and slowed down symphonies. Sunday, May 25, Kevin Barber Trio. Kevin Barber and the Happiness Boys fuse the tones of jazz, country, blues, soul and 50's pop to create a uniquely smooth and delicate yet lively instrumental Americana Roots music. Monday, May 26, Strawberry Roan. With power and control to spare, Catherine Welson and her band is best known for a tight alternative country sound, distilling bits of rock, blues, and pop that pleases all.

World of Wine’ tour May 23-26

The weekend of May 23-26 marks the “unofficial” start of the summer visitor season in the scenic Columbia River Gorge and it is a great opportunity to visit the wineries of the area. Over 30 wineries and tasting rooms will be open on both sides of the Columbia River for “A World of Wines in 40 Miles,” hosting open houses and pouring new releases as well as providing vineyard tours, food and entertainment. Blues, rock, more at Trillium

Music returns to the Trillium Cafe in May with Ben Bonham on Friday, May 23. On Saturday, May 24, it’s blues and rock from Susan Franklin, Bobby Johnson and Dave Graffe. Music starts at 8 p.m. and there is no cover charge. Trillium Cafe, 207 Oak St., Hood River, 386-1996.

‘Jamba’ at Saturday Market

The Hood River Saturday Market features the music of Jamba Marimba and the Mid-Valley Mexican Folk Dancers this week. Music starts at 10 a.m. Come see what the community is making and growing. Free parking available. Hood River Saturday Market, Fifth and Columbia streets, Hood River.

B. W. Fraser plays Santacroce’s

On Friday and Saturday May 23-24, Santacroce’s Restaurant hosts original music by B.W. Fraser. Fraser is renowned in Portland circles for playing country, blues and rock and roll guitar and harmonica. Music starts at 7 p.m. and there is no cover charge.  Tilly Jam at Divots Restaurant

On Saturday, May 24, local band Tilly Jam will be playing from 6-9 p.m. on the veranda at Divots Restaurant in Hood River. Divots will be offering its happy hour menu and there is no cover charge. Divot’s Restaurant at Indian Creek Golf Course, 3605 Brookside Dr., Hood River; 308-0304.

Bob Connolly returns to Double Mountain Brewery for a solo show on Thursday, May 22, music goes from 7 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, May 24, catch Scott Sparks and his band, starting at 8 p.m. Double Mountain Brewery, 8 Fourth St., Hood River; 387-0042.

 Music at The Pines this week

The Pines Tasting Room hosts local music on Thursdays with guitar and mandolin from Kerry Williams. Music is from 5-7 p.m. and there is no cover charge. This week, catch Bob Connolly on Friday, May 23, from 5-7 p.m. The Pines Tasting Room, 202 State St., Hood River.

Nora’s celebrates one year

‘Insurgent Folk’ at HR Elks May 23

Rediviva Magazine presents “A Night of Insurgent Folk Music,” on Friday, May 23, 9 p.m., at Hood River Elks Club. Admission is $6. This concert is a rare opportunity to see some of the Pacific Northwest's most innovative folk artists playing together for the first time. Featured performers are Run On Sentence, Dragging an Ox Through Water, and White Salmon’s Pancake Breakfast. Run on Sentence is Dustin Hamman, a gypsy of a musician and occasional Gorge resident who has been touring the United States since November in support of his debut album “Oh When The Wind Comes Down.” Dragging an Ox Through Water is the Portland-based experimental folk project of Brian Mumford. Those with open minds and ears will find Brian's music earnest, touching, and thoroughly American. Pancake Breakfast hails from White Salmon, Wash., and “sounds like grandma playing the organ with the TV on full blast.”

Tour Cathedral Ridge Winery

Come visit Cathedral Ridge Winery on Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, and taste the new releases. Enjoy light appetizers on Saturday, and live music on Sunday afternoon. The freshly landscaped lawn is the perfect location to bring your picnic lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of Mount Adams and Mount Hood. Live music at CG Hotel

Golden Garter Theatre opens

“A Magical Melodrama” at the Golden Garter Theater is a wild west, family-friendly show that combines amazing magical illusions with the popular comedy entertainment of 100 years ago. The show begins its summer run on Friday, May 23, in Stevenson, Wash., and will run Friday and Saturday nights until Sept. 20. On Thursday, May 29, the theater will host a tourism employee appreciation night, with ticket discounts for employees who work in the tourism industry in Hood River and Skamania counties.
