'Brown Bag Jukebox' concerts start

July 9, 2008

Sunshine, a soft lawn, an appetizing brown bag lunch and free music — it’s all part of the Brown Bag Jukebox music series sponsored by the Hood River Downtown Business Association and starting June 9.

Every Wednesday during July and August, the HRDBA will sponsor free music in Georgiana Smith Library Park at noon.

The series begins with blues guitarist Henry Schifter. Other musicians interested in performing are encouraged to contact the HRDBA at (541) 490-0022.

It’s that simple. Just show up with — or without — your lunch, and enjoy the music. Bring your lunch from home, or just pop in to any of several downtown restaurants providing lunch service.

Greg Colt, president of the HRDBA, said,. “We always highlight local artists during First Friday, and Brown Bag Jukebox is a way to let everyone enjoy some of the top talent around.”

Other performers will be announced later for subsequent weeks. The last performance will be Aug. 27.
