Lions Peace poster
winners announced

Devon Davis of Mid Columbia Adventist School won the judging in the 2007 Peace Poster contest sponsored by the Lions International District G (eastern Oregon).

Davis and other local contest winners were given their awards by Past District Governor Paul Zastrow during the Hood River Lions Club meeting at Hawks Ridge on Dec. 2.

“Peace Around the World” was the theme for this year’s contest.

The peace poster contest was created in 1988 to give young people the opportunity to express their feelings for world peace. Hood River Lions Bob and Bev Thoman were on the committee that started the contest internationally.

The local contest poster winners (first place) were judged at the district level. All posters that were not sent to District G for judging are now on display at the Hood River County Library for public viewing. First place winners earned $50, the second place prized was $25, and third-place winners were $15.

Hood River Middle School

Anna Schlosser, first prize; Miranda Starr, second prize; Mariah Conner, third prize; Mercedes Roberts, third prize.

Horizon Christian School

McKenna Roberts, first; Patrick Foss, second; Hannah Bergeman, third.

Mid Columbia Adventist School

Devon Davis, first; Madison Baird, second; Sarita Viamontes, third.

Riverside Church

Austin Requa, first.prize, $25.
